{"id":5075,"date":"2021-06-14T14:34:50","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T13:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=5075"},"modified":"2021-06-14T14:34:51","modified_gmt":"2021-06-14T13:34:51","slug":"summertime-otter-mini-safari-13-06-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/northumberland\/druridge\/summertime-otter-mini-safari-13-06-21","title":{"rendered":"summertime?; otter mini-Safari 13\/06\/21"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a few very warm sunny days, it was grey and cooler when I arrived to meet up with Teresa and Pam for an evening in <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/experiences\/tour\/12\" target=\"_blank\">Druridge Bay<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the cooler conditions the dense clouds of <strong><em>chironomid<\/em><\/strong> midges had gone, but the songs of <strong><em>meadow pipit, reed bunting, skylark, willow warbler, common whitethroat<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>chiffchaff<\/em><\/strong> were all typical of an evening trip at this time of year.  The chip-chip-chip calls of a <strong><em>snipe<\/em><\/strong> came from a clump of rushes and <strong><em>avocets<\/em><\/strong> were keeping watch over chicks and angrily pursuing <strong><em>crows<\/em><\/strong> that flew by, while <strong><em>lapwings<\/em><\/strong> harassed a <strong><em>marsh harrier,<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>common terns<\/em><\/strong> fished in front of us.
