{"id":4792,"date":"2019-06-18T12:38:22","date_gmt":"2019-06-18T11:38:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=4792"},"modified":"2019-06-18T12:38:22","modified_gmt":"2019-06-18T11:38:22","slug":"magic-tricks-druridge-bay-mini-safari-06-06-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/northumberland\/druridge\/magic-tricks-druridge-bay-mini-safari-06-06-19","title":{"rendered":"Magic tricks; Druridge Bay mini-Safari 06\/06\/19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a busy week and a bit ahead of me (guiding a 7 night wildlife photography holiday and then recceing landscape photography holiday locations in the Lake District) I headed to Amble to collect Val and Jimmy for a morning around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/experiences\/tour\/12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Druridge Bay (opens in a new tab)\">Druridge Bay<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rhythmic chuntering of <strong><em>Reed Warblers<\/em><\/strong> and scattergun song of Sedge Warblers filled the warm air as we watched several <strong><em>Avocets<\/em><\/strong> sitting on nests.  One pair seemed agitated but the others didn&#8217;t which is unusual in an <strong><em>Avocet<\/em><\/strong> colony, where they&#8217;re nearly always up for a fight, and then one of the pair adopted an unusual crouched position&#8230;and laid an egg!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next we stopped to look for our regular <strong><em>Little Owl<\/em><\/strong>.  It wasn&#8217;t where I expected it to be&#8230;and then suddenly it was \ud83d\ude42  Next up was a genuine rarity&#8230;although it remained stubbornly asleep while we were watching it &#8211; I&#8217;ve seen a <strong><em>Baikal Teal<\/em><\/strong> in the UK previously but this one is just 15mins from our office and had a small audience already watching it when we arrived.
