{"id":3025,"date":"2015-07-20T10:27:48","date_gmt":"2015-07-20T09:27:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=3025"},"modified":"2015-07-20T10:27:48","modified_gmt":"2015-07-20T09:27:48","slug":"in-the-summertime-lindisfarne-mini-safari-16072015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/northumberland\/lindisfarne\/in-the-summertime-lindisfarne-mini-safari-16072015","title":{"rendered":"In the summertime; Lindisfarne mini-Safari 16\/07\/2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday was to be a day of two mini-safaris, and I arrived at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/tours.php?id=11\" target=\"_blank\">Holy Island<\/a> to collect David and Larraine for the first of those.<\/p>\n<p>Lindisfarne offers remarkable birdwatching during the winter months, but in the height of summer it&#8217;s chief features of interest lie in the flowers and invertebrates resplendent in the Northumbrian sunshine.\u00a0 <em><strong>Marsh Helleborine, Common Spotted Orchid, Common Restharrow, Viper&#8217;s Bugloss<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Cottongrass<\/strong><\/em> were all in bloom, and an accompanying cast of butterflies included <em><strong>Meadow Brown, Small Heath, Dark Green Fritillary<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Ringlet<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Common Blue<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 An unexpected find was a juvenile <em><strong>Wheatear<\/strong><\/em>, and the morning had passed by almost in an instant.\u00a0 Time to head home, for a few hours in the office before our second mini-safari.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday was to be a day of two mini-safaris, and I arrived at Holy Island to collect David and Larraine for the first of those.
