{"id":2851,"date":"2015-04-21T15:05:51","date_gmt":"2015-04-21T14:05:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2851"},"modified":"2015-04-21T15:05:51","modified_gmt":"2015-04-21T14:05:51","slug":"ringing-the-changes-druridge-bay-18042015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/birdwatching\/ringing-the-changes-druridge-bay-18042015","title":{"rendered":"Ringing the changes; Druridge Bay 18\/04\/2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday saw Roger returning for a second day out with NEWT, after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/tours.php?id=10\" target=\"_blank\">Kielder<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/birdwatching\/a-trip-within-a-trip\" target=\"_blank\">May 2012<\/a>, and, as he was stopping at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theswanchoppington.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">The Swan<\/a>, we chatted on Friday evening about the possible options.<\/p>\n<p>Although <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/tours.php?id=2\" target=\"_blank\">Druridge Bay<\/a> was still planned to be the focus of part of the day, we decided to start with a quick trip into the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/tours.php?id=1\" target=\"_blank\">Cheviot Valleys<\/a> first.\u00a0 <em><strong>Lapwings<\/strong><\/em> were displaying, newly arrived <em><strong>Willow Warblers<\/strong><\/em> seemed to have comandeered almost every bush and tree, <em><strong>Dippers<\/strong><\/em> were bobbing up and down on mid-stream rocks, a <em><strong>Peregrine<\/strong><\/em> soared along the top edge of the valley as <em><strong>Red Grouse<\/strong><\/em> chuckled and chuntered from the heather-clad slopes below and then, in a bare tree in a narrow steep sided valley, a real prize &#8211; a stunning male <em><strong>Ring Ouzel<\/strong><\/em> \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Roger spotted another <em><strong>Peregrine<\/strong><\/em> and then a female <em><strong>Ring Ouzel<\/strong><\/em> perched obligingly in another bare tree.<\/p>\n<p>The coast had lots of what we would expect&#8230;but the &#8216;quality over quantity&#8217; of the hills won out on the day \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday saw Roger returning for a second day out with NEWT, after Kielder in May 2012, and, as he was stopping at The Swan, we chatted on Friday evening about the possible options.
