I’ve never made any secret of the fact that my enthusiasm is raised by the winter, and snow in particular.\u00a0 I love it, and always have done.\u00a0 We’ve only had a few trips over the last seven years with snow on the ground, and generally only a light dusting…<\/p>\n
06:00 and there’s a very light covering of snow on the ground.<\/p>\n
08:00 and it’s starting to snow properly<\/p>\n
08:15 I’m on my way to Lesbury to collect Phil and Carol, and it’s picturesque; sunshine, blue sky, pristine glistening snow blanketing the fields<\/p>\n
08:30 now it’s bleak – not so much a white-out as a murky, unpleasant grey-out; heavy snowfall and the roads are completely covered<\/p>\n
09:15 I arrive at Lesbury, and it’s picturesque again \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
10:00 We’re watching our first Otter<\/strong><\/em> of the morning when a proper snowstorm hits.\u00a0 This is wildlife-watching at it’s finest; an elusive predator hunting a little distance away from us, and the elements chucking a good amount of the white stuff in our direction \ud83d\ude42 As the snow passes it turns into a quite pleasant morning; sunny, not too cold, although we can see snow in the distance.\u00a0 Then a second Otter<\/strong><\/em> appears, covering a lot of distance, but performing briefly within range of Phil’s camera.\u00a0 A hovering Kestrel<\/strong><\/em> found itself on the receiving end of a sustained attack by a Sparrowhawk<\/strong><\/em>, Mallards<\/strong><\/em> watched warily as the Otters<\/strong><\/em> swam by, Cormorants<\/strong><\/em> flying inland looked prehistoric and incredibly, we’d been watching the Otters<\/strong><\/em> for over two hours \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n Here’s an image from mid-January of one of the Otters<\/strong><\/em> that we’re seeing regularly just now.<\/p>\n
