{"id":2625,"date":"2014-08-25T16:49:49","date_gmt":"2014-08-25T15:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=2625"},"modified":"2014-08-25T16:49:49","modified_gmt":"2014-08-25T15:49:49","slug":"wading-through-coastal-flocks-druridge-bay-mini-safari-21082014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/birdwatching\/wading-through-coastal-flocks-druridge-bay-mini-safari-21082014","title":{"rendered":"Wading through coastal flocks; Druridge Bay mini-Safari 21\/08\/2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Changeable, that&#8217;s the thing I love about Northumberland&#8217;s weather.\u00a0 Thursday&#8217;s mini-Safari in managed to feature bright sunshine, strong winds and torrential rain &#8211; all in just a few hours.<\/p>\n<p>I collected Diana and Aveen from Alnmouth and we headed down the coast towards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/tours.php?id=2\" target=\"_blank\">Druridge Bay<\/a>.\u00a0 Starting with a brief seawatch, we found <em><strong>Eider<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Common Scoter<\/strong><\/em> on the sea, and <em><strong>Redshank, Oystercatcher<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Turnstone<\/strong><\/em> on the rocks just above the crashing waves.\u00a0 <em><strong>Curlew, Avocet, Dunlin, Knot, Ruff, Lapwing<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Redshank<\/strong><\/em> were roosting at Cresswell, and flushing frequently although we couldn&#8217;t see the cause of their concern.\u00a0 A <em><strong>Little Egret<\/strong><\/em> added a touch of grace and elegance, <em><strong>Little Grebes<\/strong><\/em> swam amongst <em><strong>Tufted Ducks<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Mallard<\/strong><\/em> and at one point we had no less than five <em><strong>Kestrels<\/strong><\/em> in the air at the same time.\u00a0 Two lovely clients, and the Northumberland coast delivering the sort of birdwatching experiences that it does so well \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Changeable, that&#8217;s the thing I love about Northumberland&#8217;s weather.\u00a0 Thursday&#8217;s mini-Safari in managed to feature bright sunshine, strong winds and torrential rain &#8211; all in just a few hours.
