{"id":1906,"date":"2013-05-19T10:28:06","date_gmt":"2013-05-19T09:28:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1906"},"modified":"2013-05-19T10:32:46","modified_gmt":"2013-05-19T09:32:46","slug":"glorious","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/northumberland\/glorious","title":{"rendered":"Glorious"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the snow of last Monday, Tuesday brought two mini-safaris.\u00a0 The first was a recce trip for a TV production company, assisting with checking out potential filming locations on the Northumberland coast.\u00a0 The weather was glorious; beautiful blue sky, fluffy white clouds and a gentle breeze.\u00a0 The peace and tranquility captured what Northumberland is all about &#8211; somewhere that you can relax and simply enjoy the countryside around you.<\/p>\n<p>The second trip of the day began as I collected Neil and Ann from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theswanchoppington.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">The Swan<\/a>, and we headed out on a journey along the coast.\u00a0 <em><strong>Avocets<\/strong> <\/em>were sitting on nests, <em><strong>Reed Warblers<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Sedge Warblers <\/strong><\/em>and<strong> <\/strong><em><strong>Reed Buntings<\/strong><\/em> were all singing and an incredibly bright <em><strong>Yellow Wagtail<\/strong><\/em> walked along the water&#8217;s edge.\u00a0 With a bit of persistence we located a <em><strong>Grasshopper Warbler<\/strong><\/em> singing from a reedbed, body quivering as it delivered it&#8217;s &#8216;reeling&#8217; song with it&#8217;s head turning slowly from side-to-side.\u00a0 As we continued northwards we came across the first of three <em><strong>Barn Owls<\/strong><\/em> for the evening.\u00a0 As dusk approached <em><strong>Roe Deer<\/strong><\/em> came out of hiding, a <em><strong>Red Fox<\/strong><\/em> ran across directly in front of us carrying prey, <em><strong>Common Pipistrelles<\/strong><\/em> flitted backwards and forwards against the darkening sky and the assembled <em><strong>ducks<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>geese<\/strong> <\/em>and <em><strong>swans<\/strong> <\/em>started acting very nervously.\u00a0 I&#8217;d checked that site with Sarah two days earlier and watched a very obliging <em><strong>Otter<\/strong><\/em> as it fed.\u00a0 Today though it remained hidden in the reeds, almost certainly the cause of panic amongst the wildfowl&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the snow of last Monday, Tuesday brought two mini-safaris.\u00a0 The first was a recce trip for a TV production company, assisting with checking out potential filming locations on the Northumberland coast.\u00a0 The weather was glorious;
