{"id":1067,"date":"2011-06-09T09:01:35","date_gmt":"2011-06-09T09:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1067"},"modified":"2011-06-09T09:01:35","modified_gmt":"2011-06-09T09:01:35","slug":"like-a-different-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/birdwatching\/like-a-different-world","title":{"rendered":"Like a different world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had 2 days in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northernexperiencewildlifetours.co.uk\/tours.php?id=12\" target=\"_blank\">North Pennines<\/a> late last week;\u00a0a one-to-one photography day and a\u00a0birdwatching trip.\u00a0 Separated by just 48hrs, the days could hardly have been any different.<\/p>\n<p>The photography day took place in gales that were so strong, I had to choose the direction of the car carefully when parked so that we could open the doors, and plan the route as we went along so that Michael would be in a position to get shots from his side of our mobile hide, with as little interference as possible from the weather.\u00a0 As well as serving up <em><strong>Black Grouse<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Red Grouse<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Golden Plover<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Curlew <\/strong><\/em>and <em><strong>Short-eared Owl<\/strong><\/em> I had a stint as photographer&#8217;s assistant, holding my Cubelite in place so that it acted as a diffuser and windshield as Michael enjoyed having some of the area&#8217;s flora in front of his macro lens.<\/p>\n<p>2 days later and I collected Mandy, Sara and Stevan from Jesmond and headed west again.\u00a0 As we crossed the remote moorland roads and walked in Upper Teesdale, we found <em><strong>Snipe<\/strong><\/em>, \ufeff<em><strong>Curlew<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Meadow Pipit<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Skylark <\/strong><\/em>and <em><strong>Wheatear <\/strong><\/em>all displaying.\u00a0 We had excellent views of 2 <strong><em>Greyhens<\/em><\/strong> and a <strong><em>Blackcock<\/em><\/strong> was dozing in the afternoon sunshine.\u00a0 <strong><em>Common Sandpipers<\/em><\/strong> were flitting about across the water and the <em><strong>Mountain Pansies<\/strong><\/em> were glorious in the sunlight.\u00a0 All too soon, it was time to head back towards civilisation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had 2 days in the North Pennines late last week;\u00a0a one-to-one photography day and a\u00a0birdwatching trip.\u00a0 Separated by just 48hrs, the days could hardly have been any different.
