Birdwatching

Birdwatching
Have you ever wondered how to tell the difference between the birds that you see? Ever been confused by bird songs and calls? Wanted to improve your knowledge and fieldcraft? A Northern Experience Beginners Birdwatching course is just the thing for you.

With a tutor who is a former teacher and passionate about birdwatching and education you’ll have access to nearly 40 years of knowledge and experience. Our Beginners Birdwatching courses each comprise two ½ day sessions (with the two sessions covering different aspects/areas) and the main topics are determined by the time of year;

Dates for 2011
April 23/30: Bird songs and calls.
July 29/30: Wader identification.
October 15/16 Migration.
November 12/13: Winter wildfowl.

Each session costs £30/person, or book both sessions on one topic for £50/person.
Great day even though we didn't get across to Holy Island because of the high winds and seas! Enjoyed very good views of brent geese, shelduck, grey plovers, wigeon, bar-tailed godwit and much more from a hide near Fenham. Martin was very knowledgable and helped me identify more than 12 species of birds that I'd never seen before.
Thanks Martin for a very enjoyable and informative day. Jane Brook, Northumberland (Lindisfarne Safari Day)
