Kielder and Harwood

NEW for 2012 Harwood is an area of forest that we know very well, as we carried out fieldwork for Bird Atlas 2007-2011 in the area. It's an excellent location for Goshawk, Crossbill, Roe Deer and Red Squirrel and a regular wintering area for Great Grey Shrike. Like Kielder, where we've already established our safari days, we have a permit from the Forestry Commission that allows us to organise safaris in Harwood. Kielder and the Border Forests are a prime springtime location for Roe Deer, Goshawk, Hen Harrier, Crossbill, Red Squirrel and the other wildlife of forest and moorland. Your tour of this remote area with our experienced guide includes a journey through an area of the forest with no vehicle access to the public.
