Activities; 3 full days guided wildlife watching with Northern Experience Wildlife Tours, including a 4-hour Whale and Dolphin cruise on Saturday 12th September

Detailed description; Based at St Cuthbert's House, the programme will begin with a slide show after dinner on our first evening, highlighting the landscapes and wildlife of Northumberland. Friday will be spent on Holy Island and the North Northumberland coast, searching for migrant passerines, waders, wildfowl and the raptors that hunt them. After dinner on Friday evening we will have Martin Kitching's ‘A Summer of Pelagic Seabirding’ presentation – a mixture of still images, video clips and anecdotes that detail the development of offshore wildlife trips in the North Sea. Saturday’s main event is a 4 hour whale and dolphin cruise from Seahouses. This is a Northern Experience event in conjunction with Billy Shiel’s Farne Island Boat Trips. As this is open to general booking, there will be at least three Northern Experience guides on board to ensure that everyone receives a professional level of attention from our guides. Saturday evening’s after-dinner session will be an open forum where you can ask questions about Northumberland, its wildlife, identification queries that perplex you; in fact, you can test Martin to his limits! Our wildlife weekend concludes on Sunday morning with an excursion to the area south of Seahouses, in search of Water Rails, Short-eared Owls and other birds of the coastal strip.
